Frequently Asked Questions

What is Executor Alert?

  • Executor Alert is a platform that allows you to store a message for your executor (or anyone who you trust to take care of your estate), and have it available for them in the case of your death or incapacitation.

What if I forget to check in, will my executor will have my secrets?

  • Our system will only alert your executor after two sequential failed check-ins.
  1. Automated check-in is sent to you, you have 12 hours to respond.
  2. If you do not respond, we'll send a follow up check-in and you have 12 hours to respond.
  3. If you do not respond, we'll alert your executor.
  • We strongly recommend that your message contains information that can be changed or is contextual. A hiding place for documents, a safe code that can be changed, or people to contact.

Do I have to use my executor?

  • No, you can have anyone you trust to take care of your estate be designated as your executor on this platform.

How is the message stored?

  • The message is encrypted using your passphrase so that nobody can see the contents without your secret phrase to unlock it.

Can you store my will or trust documents?

  • No, we do not provide any services to store or manage legal documents. Executor Alert is a mechanism for you to tell someone where to find your documents.

What are some examples of messages?

  • We think that your message should be something simple. Here are some ideas:

"The code to my safe is 184726, and you can find my safe behind the fridge in the basement."
"I've hidden my estate documents in the plastic tub in my laundry room."
"My lawyer's phone number is ... and they'll know what to do, call them first."

Can I assign two Executors?
